Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) give information on how to make your home more energy efficient and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Information about energy efficiency and carbon emissions is summarised in two charts that show the energy and carbon dioxide emission ratings. The charts look similar to those supplied on electrical appliances, like fridges and washing machines.
The Government announced the suspension of Home Information Packs with immediate effect from 21 May 2010. As a result homes marketed for sale on or after 21 May 2010 will no longer require a Home Information Pack (HIP).
The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will be retained. Sellers will still be required to commission, but won't need to have received an EPC before marketing their property.
